When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:4
What happened on the cross was an exchange of life; Christ took your life and gave you His. Beloved, in your old life you were destined for destruction. The penalty of your sins was death and condemnation. But because of God’s love and goodness, He sent Jesus to die in your place. Jesus who knew no sin and did no sin, was made sin because of you. The righteous judgment of God could not overlook sin; He had to punish every atom of sin. So on the cross, the Love of God satisfied the righteous requirements of God’s justice.
Jesus took on Himself all our sins; this doesn’t mean all our sins up to the time we became born again. It’s all our sins: past, present and future. Jesus received all our sins on Himself and God had to punish Jesus for all the sins you have committed and all that will be committed in the future. So, God being righteous, punished sin in the body of Jesus once and for all, for those who accept the price that Jesus paid on their behalf. Not only did Jesus take ALL our sins on Himself, He also gave us His righteousness. The same way that Jesus didn’t have to commit any sin to take our sins, we didn’t have to do any righteous act to receive His righteousness. And when we believe in what Jesus has done, we become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We received the light and this light that came to us, is the life of Christ (John 1:4).
The life that we now possess is full of righteousness, holiness, santification, wisdom, redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30). Beloved, Jesus took all we deserved and gave us all that He deserves. So the question is: how do we walk now that Jesus has become our qualification? Do we have a part to play in it? Here’s the answer found in Colossians 2:6; “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him”. And how did you receive Christ? By believing in Him. So beloved, the part we have to play in continuing this walk in Christ is “believing”. The more you believe, trust and rely on Jesus, the more He lives His life through you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus I believe and rely on You, to live Your life through me.
