Who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:5
Beloved, we are born again to a living hope, through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus(1 Peter 1:3). Many believers have been robbed of the confidence they should have in Christ. There are many who after been told they can lose their salvation, walk in fear and condemnation. The devil uses this against them and when they sin without properly asking for forgiveness, they tell themselves, maybe I’ve lost my salvation. These good people walk around with guilt and condemnation. Some may even tell themselves, “maybe I should continue living in this sinful manner; since I’ve tried all I can, but it seems I continue to lose my salvation”.
One question that should be asked is, what is the number of sins that should be committed before a person can lose his/her salvation? The other question is, if you didn’t do anything to be saved, what do you have to do to lose it, seeing that your actions didn’t give it to you in the first place? Beloved, the truth is that everyone knows that we can’t do anything to earn salvation; it’s a free gift. But legalistic teaching makes you believe that after you’ve gotten the gift for free, you have to pay something to keep it.
Just imagine someone telling you, “I’ll give you this BMW car for free, it’s a gift. But you have to pay me 10,000 naira every month, for the next 10years”. Beloved, will you still call that a gift? This is the same thing we are told, when we became saved; you were told Jesus died for you, to take your place and now all you have to do is believe in your heart and you’ll receive salvation for free. But after you’ve settled into the life as a seed of God, you are told you have to pay a price to keep the salvation. It’s either it’s a free gift from beginning to end or it’s not a gift at all. Beloved, don’t allow anyone rob you of your full assurance in Jesus, our living Hope.
Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus. You are my Hope and Faith. I stand secure in You and in Your Finished work. Amen.
