For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8 NET
Grace is the free and unmerited favour of God. Some might understand the “free” aspect but not the “unmerited favour”. You don’t need to do anything to deserve grace and you will never do anything to deserve grace. It’s not about how obedient you’ve been or how disciplined you are; grace is undeserved and unmerited. The reason you receive grace (God’s unmerited favour) is because of what Jesus has done. It’s because of Jesus’ obedience, never about you.
So beloved, don’t let anyone condemn you or make you feel undeserving of God’s grace. The truth is no one, no matter how great, is deserving of grace. At the cross Jesus took our place, so that we might take His place. He took all that we deserve and gave us all that He deserves. In 2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God”. Because of sin, we deserved death, but Jesus took on Himself our sins (past, present and future) and He died our death for us. Now He has given us His own free gift of righteousness, so we can get what He deserves which is life.
John 10:10 states that Jesus came to give us life, and life more abundantly. What Jesus did for us is called the “great exchange”, where He swapped our death for life. All you have to do to receive, is to believe. Believe in your heart, what He has done for you. Let your consciousness be filled with His free gift of grace. As you go on that journey, never look at your obedience as being the basis of God’s protection, but look at the obedience of Jesus as the basis of God’s protection, provision, healing and deliverance. Whatever you do, anchor your confidence on God’s unmerited favour which Jesus’ obedience bought for you.
Prayer: Lord my eyes are focus on your grace and i have great confidence that you will protect and preserve me because of what Jesus did for me on the cross.
